Tanzania Day 3

Today we traveled from Arusha to Lake Manyara National Park. Along the way we learned about the Masai people, how they make their traditional lodgings, and how they surround their villages with bomba to keep predators out. They also herd cattle, but the cows look different from ours back home. These cows have a large bump on their back which holds fat storage. This allows them to survive in harsh, dry conditions. We also learned that Tanzania is one of the more stable countries in Africa because there is no conflict between tribes.

On the drive we also passed through many towns and got to see markets in full swing. People were selling bananas, eggplants, corn, sweet potatoes and so much more! We also spotted the Baobab Tree (also known as the tree of life), it can live for up to 6000 years!
A geographical feature of this area is the Great Rift Valley, which extends from Syria down to Africa.

Below is our wildlife watch list for the day! Tomorrow we will start our day in Ngorongoro Crater!

Wildlife Count:
-Shrike

-Baboons
-Zebra
