Day 2: Isafjordur

Today we arrived at our first port of call, Isafjordur, Iceland. The port was stunning and surrounded by mountains that still had a dusting of snow on top. After breakfast I took a walk around the promenade deck to take in the views.
Next up was our local village tour and then the Dynjandi waterfall. We walked through the village and the tour had different places set up to try different fish dishes. The first was a smoked haddock that is smoked in the little house pictured in the background in the picture. Next there was a fried fish cake of haddock and cod and finally there was a warm dish of haddock and mashed potato served with rye bread and butter. I thought all of them were very tasty!
We drove about an hour, part of the way was through a long windy tunnel, to reach Dynjandi waterfall. The views were stunning and it is hard to put into words the sheer beauty of these falls. Here are just a few pictures of my hike to the closest viewing point!
After a the hike the tour provided us with aa light snack of Icelandic donuts, yogurt, and fruit before heading back to the ship. Once we were back on board Karen and I enjoyed a lovely cocktail hour and met some new friends! We then headed over to the Indulge food eatery for dinner. This is one of several casual dining options on the Prima, and it did not disappoint! We were able to order from several different eateries from the tablet at our table. We sampled American, Spanish, and Indian cuisine in small, tapas portions. Everything was delicious, especially with our Dragon Tea cocktails!

I had grand plans of attending some of the evening entertainments, but after dinner the jet lag was hitting me hard! So Karen went off to enjoy some of the shows and other entertainment while I headed to my room for a shower and early night!

After a power nap I woke up really hungry close to midnight. So I got dressed and headed to The Local for some late night bar food. Karen had been up dancing so we met up to get a picture with the midnight sun at the aft of the ship. The sun never set and it was beautiful to see the midnight sun in its full glory!
